My Bowl Predictions Part 2: BCS Bowls

The hated BCS is FINALLY ending! I kinda feel like this:

kaka celebration

But not like this:

  • Rose Bowl (Jan. 1 at 5 PM on ESPN)

Stanford will face Michigan State and both of them have the toughest defenses in the nation. But, I give the edge to Stanford as their offense is tough, gritty and they can actually throw the ball. Michigan State may not make mistakes, but is very inconsistent. Cardinal will win in a grinding, low-scoring affair in the mid-20s.

  • Tostitos Fiesta (Jan. 1 at 8:30 PM on ESPN)

UCF, Central Florida, folks! They face Baylor, whose prolific offense will run them out of the game. Baylor struggled against good Big 12 opponents, but UCF will be overmatched.

  • Allstate Sugar (Jan. 2 at 8:30 PM on ESPN)

Oklahoma, fresh off their Bedlam win against in-state rival Oklahoma State, will face a vengeful Alabama Crimson Tide. The Tide lost in heartbreaking fashion on a missed field goal kick return in the Iron Bowl, and Nick Saban will bring it to OU. Plus, it being in New Orleans will make it a home game of sorts for ‘Bama. I pick ‘Bama in a dogfight of a bowl game.

  • Discover Orange (Jan. 3 on ESPN)

Clemson is going to face one of its toughest opponents in Ohio State, which just lost its first game all year in their conference title game. You bet coach Urban Meyer will bring his Buckeyes ready to play in the Orange Bowl. Clemson underachieved this year after beating Georgia to start the season, and should give Ohio State a good fight. But, they won’t stop Braxton Miller and Carlos Hyde in their ground game and will lose by two touchdowns.

  • BCS title game (Jan. 6 at 8:30 PM on ESPN)

Famous Jameis Winston and Florida State will face the Auburn Tigers in Pasadena! The game we’ve been waiting for. For all this waiting, I still think FSU will beat down the Tigers in the Rose Bowl. FSU’s defense has NFL prospects up and down their roster; Auburn does not. FSU’s defense will choke the life out of Auburn’s Nick Marshall and Tre Mason and Jameis wins the game with his smarts and with his arm. FSU in a blowout.

What do you think? Disagree? Agree? Let me know!

About Spencer Irvine

Fun loving, D.C. area sports fan, which means I'm frustrated and still can't get a grip on what a win truly means (or a championship for that matter).
